Internships at the Bemidji Community Theater
2023-2024 INTERNSHIPS
In the past, we have mentored interns in a variety of areas and have established specific programs for make-up design, costume design, set construction, scenic design/painting, stage management and directing. These former interns have grown both in their understanding of what goes into a full stage production and have learned time management, dedication to a task, and how to put together a final project that demonstrates their skill. It should be noted that while the minimum requirement is 30 hours, most interns spend 50 to 60 hours working on a production. A directing intern might spend up to 150 hours.
Both the mentor and the intern will be paid a stipend.
Seasonal Interns are expected to:
Complete a minimum of 30 hours in the required field, a calendar of such hours must be kept and tallied.
Read all assignments and complete any projects within the required time.
Produce a professional looking resume.
Each intern must produce a final report/project (planned and discussed with the mentor) that can be shared and used as samples by future interns.
Take photos, videos, and sketches to document involvement and the final project .
Complete an end of term "check out" sheet offering suggestions for improvements to the program.
Each mentor is required to develop a detailed curriculum plan specific to the needs of the intern that includes a textbook to follow or assigned readings.
